Hockey Canada Chair, The Hon. Hugh L. Fraser, Among Highlighted Speakers at The Carnegie Initiative 2nd Annual Summit in Toronto, January 20-22, 2023
Panelists from across hockey will discuss creating change and fostering growth in the sport
(Toronto, Ontario and Boston, Mass. January 4, 2023) – The Carnegie Initiative proudly announces its slate of panelists and speakers for The CI Summit’s Saturday, Jan. 21 event at TIFF Bell Lightbox. Newly elected Hockey Canada Chair, The Hon. Hugh L. Fraser, along with NHL Senior Executive Vice President Kimberly Davis will kick off the day’s Catalyst Conversations with fellow panelists speaking to change in the sport. Three of seven Herb Carnegie Trailblazer Award recipients will appear on panels throughout the event, which will be emceed by former NHL star, and current Sportsnet and Turner Sports analyst Anson Carter. Grassroots hockey leaders will speak on accelerating the pace of making the game inclusive, including Hockey 4 Youth Founder Moezine Hasham.
The CI’s Co-Founders Bernice Carnegie and Bryant McBride will provide the keynote on the work in continuing Herb Carnegie’s legacy. The CI’s inaugural grant recipients, Dr. Nicole Melton (UMass-Amherst) and Dr. Richard Norman (Toronto Metropolitan University) will present an update on their academic research. Following a special announcement by Indigenous Hockey leaders and allies about “The Spirit Project,” the Women in Hockey Catalyst Conversation with Hockey Canada Board Member and Little Native Hockey League Founder Marian Jacko will conclude the day.
